FAQ

Common questions

Which calculator do I use to know how much margin a gold trade will tie up?

Use the margin calculator. It takes your lot size, the XAU/USD price and the leverage on your account and returns the margin required. As a reference, at 1:200 via the offshore entity a 0.10-lot position needs about $85.50 margin. Treat that figure as a cap on exposure, not a reason to size up.

How do I work out what one pip is worth on my gold position?

Use the pip value calculator. For XAU/USD one pip is 0.01, and one standard lot is 100 oz, so pip value moves with your lot size and the price. Enter your actual size rather than guessing, because the difference between 0.10 and 1.00 lot changes the naira value of every pip sharply.

What is the difference between the position size calculator and the profit calculator?

The position size calculator works backwards from the risk you are willing to take and your stop distance to tell you how many lots to trade. The profit calculator works forwards from an entry, an exit and a lot size to show the result. Use position size before you enter and profit to review a trade.

Can the pivot point tool tell me where to put my stop loss?

No. Pivot points give you reference levels calculated from prior price data; they are not stop-loss instructions. Where you place a stop depends on your risk per trade and the volatility you see, and that is a decision the position size calculator helps you express in lots, not a level any tool can hand you.

Are these calculators connected to my broker account or do they place orders?

They are standalone tools. Nothing here connects to a broker, reads your balance or places an order. You type in your own numbers, such as lot size and the XAU/USD price, and read the output. That keeps the arithmetic transparent so you can check it against your broker's own contract specifications.
